History of Bader Quarter Horses
As a family operation Bader Quarter Horses has been raising registered quarter horses for approximately thirty years and is located west of Thermopolis, in north central Wyoming. Bader Quarter Horses is comprised of Martin and Carol Bader and Bart Bader. Bart graduated from Chico State University, Chico, California, where he judged livestock and managed the beef unit for the college farm. While in college judging, Bart won many honors in junior and senior college contests in livestock and horses including Great Western, Senior Cow Palace and Phoenix , Arizona.
The breeding base of our program began when we purchased Mira Doc Hancock (deceased)(Doc Bar/Chuck Hancock bred) from Clark Jackman of Thermopolis, Wyoming. Clark is well known for having been a great steer roper and having great knowledge of horses. We initially acquired broodmares from the legendary Hayes Bros. (Laurie & Buster) and Wallingford ranch of Thermopolis, whose herds comprised the breeding of Blue Valentine, Texas Blue Bonnet, Plenty Coup, Ambrose, and Rip Rip. By breeding MIRA Doc to these old foundation bred broodmares,we were able to inject these outstanding bloodlines into our broodmare band passing on their great disposition, athletic ability and cow sense to their offspring . W e are continuing to carry on these blood lines with our stud battery of Twist O Blue Bonnet, Crowheart Veehan, Blue Man Britches, Doc Colonel Hancock and Plenty Blue Bonnet owned by Jerry Jeppson.
We are most appreciative to Jerry Jeppson of Crowheart, Wyoming, www.wyohancockhorses.net, who has given us the opportunity to breed these broodmares to his great foundation bred stallions, Blue Apache Hancock (blue roan), Blue Venture Hancock (blue roan), Wyo O Blue (grullo roan) and Plenty Blue Bonne t (blue roan). With these crosses, we have been able to offer color along with athletic ability and cow sense. These horses make great roping horses, team penning, working cowhorse, trail riding or ranch horses.
